Chef Louis Ortiz to give cooking demo at Blanton Elementary SA国际传媒
Busy weekday mornings can make it challenging for families to find time for a healthy breakfast. That鈥檚 why SA国际传媒 ISD Nutrition and Food Services encourages more families to take advantage of the choices available for school breakfast.
This year鈥檚 National SA国际传媒 Breakfast Week theme, 鈥淲ake Up to SA国际传媒 Breakfast,鈥 is a reminder that school breakfast provides a healthy start for students and fuels them for education and physical activity.
鈥淎 healthy breakfast at the start of the day is one way to ensure students are getting the best education they can,鈥 said AISD Nutrition and Food Services Director Anneliese Tanner. 鈥淣ational SA国际传媒 Breakfast Week helps us educate parents and students about all the healthy and appealing choices we offer.鈥
AISD students who eat school breakfast every day during National SA国际传媒 Breakfast Week will be entered for a chance win a prize pack. Prizes will be provided by Round Rock Express, Johnson鈥檚 Backyard Garden, Vital Farms, Sway Water, That鈥檚 It. Fruit Bar, Sustainable Food Center, Camp Gladiator and Do512 Family.
The district serves more than 20,000 breakfast meals daily through the federally funded SA国际传媒 Breakfast Program. AISD Food Service team members prepare meals every day that exceed federal nutrition standards鈥攍imiting fat, calories and sodium鈥攁nd encourage students to choose fruits, lean proteins, reduced-fat milk and whole grains offered with school meals.
In support of these initiatives, SA国际传媒 Mayor Steve Adler proclaimed March 7鈥11 National SA国际传媒 Breakfast Week.
