Why: Clinton鈥檚 book addresses the challenges facing people today and gives readers a deep understanding of the world around them鈥攁nd how anyone can make a difference. Combining facts, charts, photographs and stories about children and teens who have made real changes big and small, It's Your World鈥 will inspire readers of all ages to do their part to make our world a better place.

Background: As a child growing up in Little Rock, one of Clinton鈥檚 favorite books was 鈥50 Simple Things Kids Can Do to Save the Earth.鈥 As a teenager in Washington, D.C., she led her school鈥檚 service club. While in college, Clinton worked as a reading and writing tutor and volunteered at a children鈥檚 hospital. Today, she is vice chairwoman of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, where she helps lead the work of the foundation across its various initiatives. The foundation focuses on health, women and girls and creating service opportunities, and empowering the next generation of leaders. Clinton holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Stanford University, a master of public health degree from Columbia University, and a Master of Philosophy and doctorate degree in international relations from Oxford University.

The Ann Richards SA国际传媒 for Young Women Leaders, which opened in 2007, is a public college preparatory school of choice in AISD serving girls in sixth through 12th grades, the majority of whom come from economically disadvantaged families. With a curriculum focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) the school nurtures the whole student, providing academic and enrichment opportunities that expand their horizons and give them tools to become confident and competent leaders, improve their communities and graduate from college.
