Class of 2014: AISD Celebrates 4,300 Graduates in Ceremonies Through Saturday

District kicked off graduation week with Rosedale and Ann Richards schools

This week, about 4,300 students will earn their degrees from the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Independent SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ District, which will celebrate the high school graduates’ achievements in and outside of the classroom--including earning millions of dollars in scholarships for college--at 15 graduation ceremonies, 13 of which continue through June 7.

Yesterday, AISD recognized the first members of the Class of 2014: six graduates from the Rosedale SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ for students with special needs. Today, the district celebrated 52 graduates from the Ann Richards SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ for Young Women Leaders.

AISD's graduation rate has reached an all-time high of 82.5 percent. Since 2008, graduation rates among AISD's high school seniors have risen steadily from 74.3 percent.

Parking and Shuttle Service

Due to construction of the Dell Medical Center Project, parking and access to the Frank Erwin Center will be severely affected through the end of 2014.

The Erwin Center advises visitors to  a few days before graduation for the most current updates.

AISD strongly encourages all families and friends to use the district's free shuttles to travel to and from the graduation ceremonies. The district also asks guests to plan to arrive early and to be prepared to be re-routed by the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Police Department at several intersections.

Family and Guest Guide to Graduation 2014

AISD's schools provided parents with a letter, which includes information about:

  • parking at the Frank Erwin Center
  • places to meet
  • where to enter the building
  • items that cannot be brought into the building and
  • where to meet graduates after the ceremony.

Parents also may contact schools for information about specific ceremonies.
