SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½

SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ High SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Theatre Arts Director Billy Dragoo was recently named Theatre Educator of the Year by the Texas Educational Theatre Association. Dragoo will be honored at an annual conference hosted by the organization in January.

Dragoo has served the students at SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ High SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ for 20 years and has directed more than 90 shows throughout his career.  He led the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ High SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ students to the UIL 5A One Act Play State Finals a total of six times, a conference record, and won three of the last five state championships.

Before coming to SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ High SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, Dragoo earned a BFA from the University of Texas and a Masters of Arts from the University of London. He then studied at the Globe Theatre in London before beginning his teaching career at Grandbury High SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ in the Dallas area.

Since teaching at SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ High SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, he has been named Teacher of the Year three times and was recently named the 2013 Inspirational Theatre Educator by the Educational Theatre Association.
